Dora Cooper
Artist

Dora paints realistic landscapes, seabirds and florals in acrylics and watercolour.

Dora has been known to dabble in oil and pastels, loves light and shadow, luscious colour, the smell and sounds of the sea, and gulls. Her goal for each of her paintings is that it speaks to the viewer in a way that is personal for them.

Dora was born in Notre Dame Bay and also has roots in Trinity Bay. After a successful career in healthcare, she now devotes her time and energy to her painting.

Dora has always had a love of art and has studied under a number of well known local and internationally acclaimed artists. She continues to take workshops to further her skills and knowledge.

Dora says “I have travelled extensively throughout the island and parts of Labrador and have been inspired by our culture and the natural beauty of our province. Our rugged landscape is subject to the effects of light and weather conditions and as such is never static, ever changing, but always beautiful. My paintings are my interpretation of the natural world around me and my aim is to inspire my viewers and enable them to see through my eyes those special moments in time that will resonate with them. “

Dora is a current member and the Past-President of the Arts Association of Newfoundland and Labrador.
